CATRINE shortlisted for VILLAGE SOS

16/11/09

Catrine Community Trust has been successful in putting Catrine forward as one of five Scottish Villages who will compete for a grant from the BIG Lottery of £400,000 to develop our Powerdown project, which aims at producing biofuel from used cooking oil, into a business reality.

If selected, BBC One will film and document the final projects’ journey for a six-part series which promises to be gripping entertainment for viewers as they follow the ups and downs as the Champions move into their chosen villages and work begins.

Catrine will initially receive a £10,000 development grant and a ” Village Champion” will be selected to live and work with us to help develop our final submission in March next year. Here’s hoping!

Trust Chairman, George Smith, says “This is a great opportunity to show what innovative spirit Catrine has and it will create jobs and provide skills training. Powerdown Officer, Hugh Hutchison, will keep everyone informed of progress so don’t be afraid to ask what it’s all about and how things are going”
